What is an Approval?

An Approval is the human review step that sits in front of a Safe when policy says the session cannot start automatically. It is the gate that forces a request, a decision, and a record of who allowed the session to proceed.

The approval flow

  1. A user requests access to a Safe.
  2. The approver receives a notification.
  3. The approver reviews the request and either approves or denies it.
  4. If approved, the session window opens and the user can launch the session.

Timeouts

Approval requests do not wait forever. If nobody acts within the approval timeout, the request expires and the user has to submit a new one.

Why approvals exist

Approvals are useful when a target is high risk, when the action needs a second pair of eyes, or when you want a short-lived exception without changing the Safe permanently.
